Vampire Gentlemen and Zombie Beasts by Angela Tenga, and Elizabeth Zimmerman. The article goes into comparisons between the monsters, and society now. The two authors talk about how America can relate to one more than another, and why that is the reason for this new-found fascination. Zombies are gross beasts that only want to eat you. They have no other function than to eat you. There is no communication between one another, there is only the goal of getting more flesh. They are never satisfied, they do not give up, they are always looking for a meal to sink their disgusting teeth into.
Vampires are the most elegant of all the monsters. They are good looking, rich, powerful, and almost human. They can live forever, and can seduce their victims. Vampires are a thing of the past because of how unrelated they are to America. That's right, America is a zombie. Vampires are the top 1% in this country, and not many people can relate to the way they live. They live a life of luxury, and have their victims invite themselves over to get their blood sucked.
Zombies have to always be working, and sometimes they don't get to eat. They don't give up, they don't get frustrated (they have no feeling), and are a true representation of USA.

reading response--home front USA
There was a lot going on in this chapter. A certain 4 people had to be chosen and used for " bait " towards the zombies. cannibalism begins to occur in this chapter of course there was shame upon the people for participating but it was the only way to survive so it wasn't spoken of. People start reminiscing on the "good times." everyone was traveling north per government orders. A lot of people had to take jobs that they were over qualified for to get them back on their feet. Turning all white collar workers into blue collar needed more of them then white--which meant labor work like farmers and running big machines. I felt like this kind of made it more real feeling as i was reading it, almost as if it kept painting the picture of like the time era of a great depression. Although the world was already in a way worse state than a great depression i think its a good comparison.
Reading response- warning with out blame
the beginning of the book takes place in china. Theres an interviewer who goes around interviewing several people in different countries. the book its kinda skippy at the begging going from once place to another. a little hard to follow at sometimes. In the chapter with out blame it takes about patient zero and how the outbreak first started. a kid shows up infected with something so therefore he was strapped down. The kid rips his arm outta socket, and while his arm is out of socket it keeps moving. this was a very visual part for me. i couldn't stop trying to imagine in my head what this woulda looked like. The military begin to move in and control the situation quietly. They send out what is called " zombie hunters " They believe that this could of all started from the organ donations they've been receiving. There was a fake pill made that was called a vaccine. it was mainly made to just decrease the amount of panic and calm peoples nerves. I think thats a great idea to some extent, lying to your community will only get you so far in the long run.
Turing the tide
This chapter is about the interviewing of a person named X Azania. This person then decribes a man named Paul Redeker, The most hated man in Africa. In this chapter "plan orange" the plan was to save all the rich people. This was for lack of better words a failure because the rich people didnt know how to do hands on work, one because they never had to. So it is safe to say their survival skills lacked in many areas. But this chapter did show how roles change when it came to having to do hard labor. All in all the chapter was mainly about the rebuilding of the US. I enjoyed this chapter because of the perspective that it gave the reader.
Total War
I chose to respond to Total War because I felt this chapter was the most knowledgeable. I was really interested in the point made that there is no such thing as total war when it comes to the human race. In order to achieve total war every person from a country would have to devote every second of everyday to the cause, this is impossible because humans need to eat, sleep, etc. However the zombies could achieve this because all they are about is the consumption of human flesh. Another point made in this chapter was the difference in the zombie army and the human army. One the zombies are not really a army. They are more or less each individual that happens to be on the same side. They do not have a central command, nor do they take orders or develop strategy, it is all about eating. Humans however have this, but fighting this type of army would prove to be difficult. Because of the fact that the only way to defeat them is to kill all of them. you can not starve them out, cut off supplies or anything of that nature. I really liked this chapter of the book because of how it broke down the battle of both sides.

Chapter 9-Good Byes
The chapter I choose to talk about this blogger is Good Byes. In this chapter, the first interview takes place in Vermont with a man named Clement Attlee. This man is believed that the goal in order the zombies everyone had to pitch in and end up doing the job they were supposed to do. The next interview took place in Lake Baikal. It was about a women named Maria and how she got pregnant. Also explains how Russia got a new czar who made Russia strong once again. The next interview took place in Barbados, it was about a man named Sean who was addicted to killing and didn't know how to stop once the apocalypse ended. In Montana, the interviewer interviewed a women named Mary Jo. She explained how it was peoples fault that the zombie apocalypse happened and we should blame ourselves. The next interview took place in China and it was about how children are starting to look okay now since the zombie apocalypse is over. In Washington, he met up with a man named Joe and he believes that the apocalypse was good because it brought everyone more together. In the New Mexico interview is about the finances and the money police. In Japon, it is about how they want to get an agreement between the Kondo's belief and Tomonaga's belief. In Ireland, Phillip talks about how they lost more then just people when we left them for the dead. In Israel, he interviewed Jurgen. Jurgen believes that there is no survivors from World War Z even though people lived; they are still traumatized. Then the interview with Tracy Bowden, it was about whales and how they came close to extinction. The last interview was in Denver, it was about how Waino is still kind of traumatized and how he doesn't really celebrate even though the zombie apocalypse is over.
The reason this chapter is important in my opinion is because it explains life after the apocalypse and how people are living with it. You get the view point of people and see how they are after the war. I personally like this chapter because it explains how people are still suffering from World War Z and how they have to start their lives over. This topic brings up the aftermath of the zombie war. We can discuss how people feelings have changed on war.

pages 270-End
Travis (the general) received orders to attack. The battle strategy has changed to old school fighting.
The difference between zombies and humans is: humans had to sleep and eat, zombies could fight all the time so, they were never in total war. Zombies also had no structure to fighting, they just fed on instinct. Three words: Lead, Breed, and Feed meaning, they need to 'breed' enough soldiers and hace enough resources for them to make sure they all have gear, ammo, food, shelter, and clothes. Conventional tactics were used to try to stop the zombies like cutting off their resources, but they did not need anything! Since they weren't human you couldn't bleed them out either. If zombies kill a human it was +1 for the zombies, on the other hand if humans killed a zombie it was just -1.
Colorado: Kevlar gear provided protection from getting bitten. Yonkers didn't use as much modern technology. The rifle bayonet is introduced as a close combat weapon, not used by Yonkers that kept fighting distant.
Good-byes: Last chapter summarizes all the previous regions, complete recap.
After the war, they must rebuild mankind, uteruses are essential, because of so much death. Zombie war was a good because it brought human kind together.
Final thoughts
Differences from the novel and film:
-Interviews jump to different regions, no travel
-Controversial film from the adaptation standpoint
-How Israel built the wall (closest to the book)
-Zombies seem more intelligent in the movie than in the book
-In the film, humans find the weakness and defeat, in the book there is no known cure
-Centralized around Brad Pitt, it's harder to follow and loses attention of viewer, this adaptation makes it easier to bond with he main character and root for the central protagonist
Audience/Genre
-late teens, college students, live their world through books
-older people don't find zombies interesting
-younger teens would;t catch the underlying problems, those connections add to the context of the story, world politics
-20's- 30's, depends on the person 20-44 book
-Film expandes audience 13-60
-Captures your attention, people watch the movie first and then read the book
-Some just went to see Brad Pitt, more than a panic rather than an outbreak
-Different form zombies, they don't eat your brains just bite you, which is not as graphic
-Action packed!
-This film fits mainstream script

The Last Chapters.
The last chapters of the book were important because it demonstrated on how the world came together as a whole to defeat the zombies. Which is a really important that everyone comes together and works as a team in a time of distress. The military wasn't using crazy weapons just generic ways to take down the zombie. Some of the interviews said that they were glad this zombie war happened b/c it helped bring the people in the world closer together. Although some say it's strange now to see life happening with out the threat of zombies almost as if it was an entertainment to them. I think it was a great way how the book ended giving a glimpse on how everyone in the world is rebuilding their life's. It also showed very good survival traits and how everyone helped each other out and came tougher as one. I don't think the book could of ended on a better note.

Section
5 of World War Z
In
the last section of World War Z I found the chapter Ainsworth, Nebraska, USA the most interesting. In every other
adaptation of a Zombie apocalypse the domestic animals are forgotten or a side
show to the main story. I liked how the author featured them. They became a
little wilder but a good number still remained man’s best friend fending off
and killing the undead for their masters. Breeding the dogs for their specific tasks
and ability’s became more key than having a pure breed. The fact that the interviewee’s
old dog still stuck by his side helped to highlight the optimism of the end of
the war against the undead, that some aspects of humanity were not changed by
such a disaster.
This
part of the story is important because it helps to highlight some of the good
and the interspecies partnerships that taught each how to better win the war as
well as create hope and unity to motivate everyone to fight on.

World War Z part 5
Anmol Sethi
Chapter 8 and 9
Chapter 8 is titled “total war”. At the beginning of the
chapter the author meets with Travis as they fly above Finland. Travis explains
his theory of breeding, feeding and leading. Zombies don’t have to follow this
pattern which is what makes them successful at total war. He then goes to
Denver where he speaks to Todd Waino. He explains his experience with the
zombies involving all of the equipment he uses. The next place the author goes
is Nebraska where he meets with Darnell Hackworth who talks about his work with
dogs during this war. Dogs had many uses during the war such as luring the
zombies, acting as decoys or scouting the area for zombies. He then meets with Father Sergei Ryzhkov in Russia. His main goal in the
interview is to explain how Russia became a religious state and what his role
was through the process.
The
next place the author goes is off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands. He speaks
with Michael Choi who tells him that zombies have been living underwater and
discusses his confusion on how that is happening. Zombies shouldn’t be able to
handle the deep-water temperature and pressure but they are still alive down
there. The author then goes to Canada to
speak with Andre Renard and he describes his experience with the zombies and
how the affected the location of civillians. The author then goes back to
Colorado to speak with Todd again. Todd tells the author about his trek across
America and the zombie encounters he has had.
Chapter
9 is titled “good-byes”. This chapter is about how each person the author interviews
deals with the aftermath of the zombie war. They talk about losing a lot of
people close to them and how they feel after the war, if they think it was
their fault or the zombies.
I
thought the part that was really interesting was the interview with Darnell
Hackworth. This is the first time we see anyone discuss the idea of using
animals as protection. I thought it was interesting that he wanted to use mutts
more than pure breeds. Usually people prefer pure breeds rather than mutts and I
thought it was nice that they were given the attention in this book. Using
animals as a way of protection is a great idea and I was surprised that no
other country really took advantage of it.

Total War
After reading the end of World War Z, I found these sections of the chapter the most interesting. The final chapter of World War Z, "Good Byes", starts off in Burlington, Vermont. The interviewer talks to "The Whacko", who spends a lot of time talking about Winston Churchill. The Whacko went to the U.N. for support ruing the American war against zombies. Mostly this interviewee just explains what he was doing during the time of the war. The interviewer then speaks to Maria from Russia. She is 4 months pregnant, she explains how her motherland needed her for other projects that they had. Maria explains her job in Russia, which the interviewer describes as serving the country with her uterus. She goes on to say how her job is a secret, but she wants the world to know that Russia is strong again thanks to their new leader. Next the interviewer goes to Wenatchee, Washington, to speak with Joe Muhammad. Muhammad tells the interviewer that the zombie war might have positively changed the world and brought everyone together. Joe then talks about how he misses some things from before the war. I found this last section the most interesting because it showed how an individual can almost look at the zombie outbreak as a positive event. If you think about it, the world having a common tragedy and having to work together to overcome it most likely made the world a lot stronger.
This chapter is important because it shows how the war ended and how people were reacting to it. I thought Joe Muhammad had the most interesting reaction or story. He let this horrible event impact his life and through it he was able to see the world in a different light. This chapter also shows how people all around the world were supporting their countries and talking about how they were slowly gaining back their strength.

Chapter 9: Good Byes
I chose the chapter Good Byes. In this chapter the first interview took place in Vermont. They are talking about a man named Clement Attlee, who was a man that said they beat the zombies. The goal was to get people to pitch in and end up doing the job they were supposed to do. The next interview took place in Lake Baikal and it was about how Maria is pregnant and Russia got a new czar who made Russia strong again. The next interview was in Barbados and that was about a man named Sean who was addicted to killing and he didn't know how to stop his habit then another interview took place in Montana and it was about how Mary Jo believed that it was the peoples fault that this whole mess happened, she said that we need to blame ourselves. The next interview took place in China and it was about how the children look okay now since there's no zombies and how life is without them anymore then the next interview in Washington was about a man named Joe and he believed the zombie war was a good thing because it brought everyone closer together. In the New Mexico interview, its all about the finances and the money police, then in Japan they talk about how they want to get to the middle ground between Kondo's belief and Tomonaga's belief. Then in Ireland, Phillip talks about how they lost more than just people when we left them for the dead, after that in Israel the interview with Jurgen, he believes that there is no survivors from World War Z because even though people lived, they are still damaged. The last two interviews took place with Tracy Bowden and in Denver, Colorado. The interview with Tracy was about Whales and how they were so close from coming back from extinction then in Denver the interview was about how Wainio is still kind of traumatized and how he doesn't really celebrate even though the zombie war is over.
This chapter is important because it talks about how people reacted after the zombie war is over. You get to see the point of view of many people and see how they're feeling after the war. I chose this chapter because I wanted to see if people were still traumatized after the war or were people going to go back to their normal lives. I liked this chapter because I got to see how people felt after the war was over. This topic introduces survival and the aftermath of the zombie war. We can discuss the feelings people had after the war and how people changed after the war.

Around the world, And Above
I found this chapter to be more interesting. Barati Palshigar, put the truth into better prospective with his talk about how the zombies were not truly the enemy caught my attention. Its ignorance that is mankind's greatest enemy. He also explains how in war you are trained to dehumanize you enemy in order to cause harm to them. And also explains that in this case that the treat is already dead.
This chapter seemed to be a major plot line to me, because it showed how different countries handled the zombie apocalypse issue. Also it talked about the advantages and disadvantages of having a more populated country. I personally thought that the greater the population would be more of a disadvantage.

Around The World, And Above
Section
3 of World War Z
Niall
Owens
July
10, 2015
Around The World, and Above
This section starts off discussing
the difference between castles and palaces, how a palace is a glorified home
that provides little security while a castle was built to stay standing and
keep people out. Those became safe havens in the Zombie apocalypse. The author
then interviews a man named Barati, he is of the opinion that human ignorance
is the real enemy when it comes to fighting the Zombies. We couldn’t wrap our
minds around what needed to be done. The narrator then head to North Korea to
interview a man who believed that they were the most prepared for the Zombie
invasion.
The
next person he interviews, Kondo
Tatsumi, personally my favorite interviewee in this section, his
story of living in the internet to prepare himself and the things he
experienced when the internet finally failed were very interesting. He wouldn’t
have been the type of character to live and be able to defeat Zombies without
the knowledge he had gained from being so imbedded in the Internet. The next
stop is Cuba, they didn’t have much of a infestation problem because of their
location. They, however, came to the aid of numerous migrants. Then in Australia,
we met a man named Terry who had witnesses and survived the apocalypse in
space. The section finally ends in Chile with a man who had been witness to the
final decision of the Zombie committee, they decided to fight and take on the
zombies.
This
section is important because it takes a look at how different countries handled
the issue, not people. It shows the differences and mind states around the
world, showing which were most successful and the ones who were not. This
fictional book represented each quite accurately.

Around The World, And Above
The interviewee is interviewing a guy name the "Bone". In the beginning of the chapter it talks about how ignorance is the enemy. There were a couple of people who wrote about the survival skills or the zombie apocalypse. There were stories that some people survived by using the Redeker method and others who didn't survive. Like this one survivor stole a military explosive and nearly destroyed the based because they threw it in the water. How others didn't know what to do with a bomb or where to put, but it ending up costing their lives. Then you have other people digging up dirt, it turns out the dead was underneath them. Then Bone mentions about the queen, he tried to persuade her that staying at Windsor isn't a good idea. She wouldn't listen and gave up everything.
I think this is important because this chapter seems realistic to me. People go crazy in the zombie apocalypse.

Chapter 7-Around the World, And Above
Around the World, and above begins with an interview of David Allen Forbes. The interview consists of talks about castles and palaces later on finding out that castles are much more safer than palaces as they talk about the past. The Interviewer later meets Barati Palshigar. He tells the Interviewer that zombies weren't mankind's greatest enemy, that ignorance was. He later tells us how in a traditional war, you dehumanize the enemy to get people to hate them. But in this case, they had to remember people that the enemy was already dead and wasn't human at all. The Interviewer goes to South Korea and meets with Hynghol Choi. He tells the interviewer that he believes North Korea was the best prepared to fight off zombie invasion than any other country due to the way they are raised.
Next he went to Japan to talk to Kondo Tatsumi. He tells the interviewer about how he and his cyber friends went online to find out all information about the undead. He also tells him about his escape when he confronted by a zombie. In the same location, he later interviews Sensei Tomonaga Ijiro. He tells him about how he considered suicide a number of times but couldn't go through with it. So he became a zombie hunter. The next location he went to was Cuba. Cuba didn't really fight off the undead due to their location. They did help a lot of refugees especially U.S refugees. The next location he travels to is China, they believed they were the best equipped due to their large population and they could outnumber the zombies. The next interview took place in Australia, he interviewed Terry Knox. He talked about how he witnessed the zombie war from space. The last interview was in Chile and he speaks to Ernesto Olguin. He tells him about the zombie conference about survival techniques and war. The final decision they decided in the conference was to attack the zombies.
The chapter is overall important to the plot of the book because it explains how all these countries handled the zombie invasion. It is important because it explains which counties were better equipped to handle the zombie apocalypse versus other ones. I liked this chapter because it was interesting to see how the countries and society would handle the situation. It seemed really realistic to me how each country would take care of the zombie war. The discussions it will bring up are what countries will be better equipped and the location of the countries will be important as well. Also how more populated countries will be at an advantage and disadvantage at the same time.

Around the World, And Above
This chapter starts off in the Province of Bohemia and the person being interviewed in David Allen Forbes. They were talking about the differences between castle and palaces and they believed that castles were the strongest between the two because castles were there to shield the body, soul, and Britain. The next interview was with Barati and he didn't believe zombies was the main problem; He believed it was ignorance of what people were facing. Barati talks about how some people believed that zombies were intelligent and some people thought you can cultivate them like an animal and Barati wanted the people to know that we were fighting dead people, not a living human being. Next, in South Korea, Choi tells us that North Korea is the most well prepared for an attack like this. They interviewed a man named Kondo and he talks about they tried to get prepared when zombies attack; he talked about all the work they did and he explains how escaped from these zombies. The next interview is still in Japan, but author talks to Tomonaga and they talk about his attempts of suicide, but he ends up not doing it. His encounter with a zombie changed everything because after he killed that zombie, he becomes a zombie hunter with the help of the gods on his side. The next place the author goes to is Cuba and talks to Garcia about how Cuba one the Zombie War because of their geography and they were so helpful to the American refugees. The next interview in China was about how the population is so large and all the civilians helped fight and it talked about the process on how they prepared for this zombie apocalypse. The next interview took place in Australia where they talked to a man named Terry who told them his experience in space during the zombie war and how he witnessed everything in space, but Terry ended up dying three days after the interview. The last interview took place in Chile with a man named Olguin who was at a conference about survival strategies and war. The final decision was made in the conference and it was to attack.
This chapter was important to the larger portion of the story because it explained how each of these countries handled this zombie invasion. It also was important because we found out which countries were more equipped than others. I liked this chapter because we got to see the point of views of other people and not just people in the U.S. I also liked it because it helped me understand how far these zombies spread throughout the world. This chapter introduces space to the class and how different it was to witness the zombie attack on Earth from space. The chapter also introduces survival strategies and how China and Cuba used their different survival techniques. We can discuss which country was the best fit during this zombie attack and why they were the best fit.

World War Z- part 4
Chapter 7
Chapter 7 begins with the interviewer meeting with David
Allen Forbes. This interview consists of a discussion between castles and
palaces. The readers learn that castles are much more safer than palaces as
they talk about incidents from the past. He then meets with Barati Palshigar. Barati believes that the main enemy for
this war isn’t the zombies but is ignorance. She talks about the psychological
approach to this war, that we normally dehumanize our enemy-but in this case we
have to remind ourselves that our enemy is dead to begin with. The author then
goes to South Korea, and speaks with Hynghol Choi. He believes that North Korea
is the most prepared for this zombie war due to the way they are raised.
The next place he goes is Japan to speak with Kondo
Tatsumi. He tells him about his encounter with the zombies as he and his cyber
friends try to find out information about zombies. He finds himself in a
situation with a zombie and tells him about his detailed escape. For the next
interview, the author stays in the same place but speaks to Sensei Tomonaga
Ijiro. He tells him about his plan to commit suicide but isn’t successful so he
becomes a zombie hunter. The next place he goes is Cuba. Cuba is the most
successful in evading the zombie war due to their location. They helped the
refugees out a lot. The author then travels to China where he learns about
their plan and that they believe that they are most equipped to survive this
zombie war. If any country will survive it will be China due to their large
numbers. The next person the author talks to is Terry Knox. He tells the author
about his situation with the zombie war. The last place the author goes to is
Chile and he speaks to Ernesto Olguin who tells
him about the zombie conference that is held and what all was discussed there.
The decision was to attack the zombies.
The interview that I thought was the most interesting was
the one with Barati. She believes that the main enemy for the war is our own
human flaws and not the actual zombies. I think this is interesting because she
is the only person so far that has seen that we are to blame for this war and that
this war has nothing to do with zombies. I think this interview is
foreshadowing as I think the author will expand on her belief of the war.
